熾る

おこる【熾る】

〔(炭に)火が移る〕 catch fire; catch alight; begin to burn; be kindled; be lit; 〔(炭火の)火力が盛んになる〕 burn (away [up, merrily]).

●炭がおこったので火鉢に移した. The charcoal had caught fire [alight], so I moved it to the hibachi [brazier].

・私は真っ赤におこった炭を十能で火鉢に運んだ. I carried the burning coals in a shovel to the hibachi [brazier].

・炭がかんかんにおこっていた. The charcoal was burning away merrily.
